Valentine’s Day wedding – Italian Dolomites

Enjoy reading the story of this wonderful couple and their very special wedding in Italy!

‘We got set up by mutual friends in 2016 and had our first date in Marylebone at the Grazing Goat pub. We were engaged in Jan 2019 in Kitzbuhel, Austria, actually we had an aborted attempt on a gondola when a bunch of other skiiers joined us part way up the mountain and so he settled for our hotel room that evening

Our Wedding Day

We chose Cortina because that is where we first skied together and it is just such a charming setting. Both the town and mountain ranges are stunning…and the food and wine…ah! Before we were engaged, on a day when we were discussing possible wedding numbers and guests and disagreeing about who should be invited, I suddenly just said, “I just want to get married somewhere that makes us happy, keep it simple, somewhere like Cortina where I can go up the mountain unmarried and then ski down with you as your wife and then we just get merry on Aperol spritzers in Café Sport!’….and so that’s what we did! We wanted to focus on the marriage rather than planning a stressful wedding day with hundreds of guests.

What made you fall in love with your venue?

The Cinque Torri are a striking formation of rock face, which make for a fantastic and memorable backdrop. And then the bluebird skies just finished it off beautifully for us, we were very lucky

If you could sum up the words of your wedding day, what would it be? What were the highlights?

Relief that we pulled it off (!) and grinning like a Cheshire cat that we were marrying amongst nature, which is where we are happiest, and with our closest family in tow. Skiing off together as man and wife was lovely, sitting on the chairlift in those stunning surroundings and having the time to soak it all up!

‘Finally, a bride and groom could not ask for a more committed and optimistic wedding planner. Jayne never lost faith in what was an extremely drawn out bureaucratic process and then we also faced some testing weather conditions. Jayne is absolutely fantastic at what she does, SUPER efficient and knowledgeable. She is very solution focused and also extremely thoughtful – helping us with some very sweet and meaningful finishing touches that made our day just perfect. We cannot recommend Jayne highly enough, she’s a gem of the wedding planning world ---thank you so much Jayne xxx’
